Hyaluronic Acid + Scalp Care

Hyaluronic Acid + Scalp Care

Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring polysaccharide found in the body, particularly in the skin, joints, and eyes.

It is a major component of the extracellular matrix, which provides structural support to cells and tissues. In the skin, hyaluronic acid helps to maintain hydration and elasticity. Overall, hyaluronic acid is an important molecule in the body that plays a vital role in maintaining healthy skin, joints, and other tissues.

As we age, the body's natural production of hyaluronic acid decreases, leading to a loss of hydration and elasticity in the skin. Fortunately, it can be applied topically, and  penetrates the surface of the scalp to provide deep hydration. Hyaluronic acid helps maintain a healthy scalp by providing essential moisture, nourishment, and anti-inflammatory benefits, and promotes a healthier scalp environment.

What are some of the ways it does this?

  1. Moisturizing: Hyaluronic acid can hold up to 1000 times its weight in water, making it a perfect moisturizer for the scalp. It helps to keep the scalp hydrated, which can prevent dryness, flakiness, and itching.

  1. Soothing: Hyaluronic acid has anti-inflammatory properties that can help to calm irritated and inflamed scalp conditions such as dandruff, eczema, and psoriasis.

  1. Nourishing: Hyaluronic acid can penetrate the skin's surface and provide nourishment to the scalp. It can help to improve the health of hair follicles, which can lead to stronger, healthier hair.

  1. Anti-aging: As we age, our skin and scalp lose moisture and elasticity. Hyaluronic acid can help to reverse these effects by promoting collagen production, which can improve the overall health and appearance of the scalp.

Our Scalp Essence, two types of Hyaluronic Acid are used: High Molecular Weight (HMW), and Low Molecular Weight (LMW).

HMW hyaluronic acid has a larger molecular size; it sits on the surface of the skin and forms a barrier, providing hydration and preventing moisture loss. Its designed to provide surface-level hydration and moisturization.

On the other hand, LMW hyaluronic acid has a smaller molecular size, which makes it easier to penetrate the skin's surface to provide deeper and more long-lasting hydration.

In general, hyaluronic acid is well-tolerated by most skin types and can be used as often as needed to provide hydration and plumpness to the skin.
